Things to do in Heber Utah

We only had 24 hours in Heber for this quick family trip, but we found so many fun things to do there!

Zermatt Resort

Our first stop was the Zermatt Resort in Midway. We found an awesome Airbnb at the resort that included a king size bed, pull-out sofa bed, a full kitchen, and two bathrooms. We enjoyed playing mini golf at “the best mini golf course in Utah” and we spent a little time in both the indoor and outdoor pools at the resort.

If you ever have the chance to visit the Zermatt Resort, we recommend a trip to the Wildfire Smokehaus Restaurant and the Bakery that they have on site.

The next morning we grabbed a quick breakfast and coffee at The Bagel Den in Heber City before heading to the Homestead Crater.

The Homestead Crater

The Homestead Crater was something to see! There were people swimming and scuba diving in the Crater– which is the only naturally warm place to scuba dive in the United States. The Crater is actually a geothermal pool that hovers around 93 degrees year round.

If you just want to look at the Crater, you do not have to pay or pre-arrange tickets. You can purchase tickets by email or phone if you’d like to swim, scuba dive, or snorkel.

Heber Valley Railroad

Our last stop before heading home was the Heber Valley Railroad. We were so impressed with our experience on the train!

Heber Valley Railroad offers many different train themes at different times throughout the day. We chose the Provo Canyon Limited train that made its route around the gorgeous Deer Creek Reservoir. The views out our train car window were breathtaking!

And if the views weren’t entertaining enough, we also got to listen to a live fiddler and a cowboy tell stories about the history of the surrounding areas while we rode.

When you purchase tickets for the Heber Valley Railroad, you can choose your train theme, train time, and you can opt to add on a boxed lunch or dinner if you would like. There’s also a concession stand on the train that offers snacks and drinks for passengers.

Next time we visit Heber, we have a few more places that we want to explore– the Dairy Keen Restaurant, Heber City Main Street Park, Heber Valley Artisan Cheese, and the Ice Castles!

We will keep you posted!
