Essentials for Sleeping
Sleep will be a hot commodity during those first few weeks with your new baby. I laugh out loud when I think about our first night at home with our son. My husband and I were watching Youtube videos at 2am that demonstrated various baby swaddling techniques hoping to find some golden “baby sleep ticket” that would help our son sleep.
Here are a few “must have baby items” that have helped us all get better sleep:
Essentials for BreastFeeding
Breastfeeding is not for everyone, but if you plan to try to breastfeed your little one, you will need some supplies on hand. Here’s my quicklist of breastfeeding essentials that proved to be indispensable along my breastfeeding journey:
Essentials for Diapering
We have tried several diaper and wipes brands, but we always seem to come back to Pampers. We love that Pampers offers rewards through their app for each product you buy. Also, while a Diaper Genie may seem to be a little “extra”, we have been SO thankful that we put one on our registry. The nursery would be a lot more smelly without it.
Essentials for Clothing
Ahhh, baby clothes! It’s so tempting fill your registry with all of those cute little outfits, but try your best to choose a few staple pieces that you know you will use on a daily basis. Of course, there will be times to play dress up with your little one, but in those first few weeks, comfort and practicality will be of utmost importance. Here’s a few ideas for super comfortable, super practical, and super cute pieces:
Essentials for Bathing
I truly admire people that can keep their kitchen sink clean enough to bathe their little babes there. I knew early on that we would need to invest in an infant bathtub because our sink is often filled with any number of dirty dishes. The tub that I’ve included below is less than 20 bucks, and it has proven to be one of our favorite baby items.
Essentials for Traveling/On the Go
A few weeks before my son was born, I remember finding the stroller I included below at a thrift store. I wasn’t sure how I would like it at the time, but I figured it was cheap enough to give it a try. Turns out, I absolutely love it! Most infant car seats sit nicely on the top of the stroller, and you save time and hassle by not having to unbuckle and transfer baby from their car seat to another stroller seat.
